Induction of multiple follicular growth

The female patient is stimulated with ovulation-inducing agents to permit the simultaneous maturation of a number of follicles and the collection of multiple oocytes, whilst making it possible to transfer multiple embryos into the uterus in the same cycle.

This technique is performed in preparation for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd level MAP treatments, in order to improve the likelihood of success.
Severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a possible complication of the use of ovarian stimulation drugs.
