CLINICAL AND LABORATORY WORK
SISMeR, the Italian Society for the Study of Reproductive Medicine, works in the human infertility, medically-assisted procreation and genetics field, as a 3rd level medically-assisted procreation (MAP) centre. In addition to Reproductive Medicine, SISMeR also offers services in the following treatment areas:
Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Andrology and Urology
These services deal with the diagnosis and medical/surgical treatment of male health problems concerning sexual and reproductive functions. The main conditions treated include: infertility, azoospermia, variocele, erectile dysfunction, loss of sex drive, premature ejaculation, penile curvature, hydrocele, phimosis and short frenulum.
Prenatal diagnostics includes procedures for recognising or excluding the presence of congenital abnormalities in the foetus.
At S.I.S.Me.R. prenatal diagnostic analyses are performed by the Prenatal Medicine Unit.
The MAP Lab performs all 1st, 2nd and 3rd Medically-Assisted Procreation techniques. These techniques are an essential part of the treatment cycles and cannot be performed otherwise, consequently they must be booked and prescribed at the same time.
SISMeR has had an Ophthalmology Service for over ten years.
The operating theatre of SISMeR’s Bologna centre is equipped so that all the main eye surgery procedures can be performed under day hospital conditions.
Plastic surgery is commonly considered merely a way of improving the body. In actual fact, this branch of medicine has ancient origins as repair surgery and it has only taken on cosmetic connotations in recent decades.
The plastic surgeon’s role is therefore to correct and improve defects and imperfections, in order to restore harmony and balance as regards both body proportions and psychologically, because a pleasant and attractive appearance gives an individual better self-confidence and facilitates their relationships with others and the outside world.
Cough study and treatment centre
S.I.S.Me.R. experts have developed innovative solutions to offer their patients, allowing them to follow individualised “programmes” and consequently enjoy both clinical and economic benefits.
