What is it?
The preservation of oocytes by freezing in liquid nitrogen (at temperatures lower than -196°C).
Oocyte cryopreservation can be performed for medical reasons (in preparation for medical or surgical treatments that could impair the patient’s fertility, such as chemo- and radiotherapy) or because of an individual decision to postpone motherhood (Social Freezing).
