Seminal fluid donation
What is it?
Seminal fluid donation is a medically-assisted procreation treatment involving the insemination of an oocyte using seminal fluid from a donor and embryo transfer into the uterus of the recipient woman.
Seminal fluid donation, which was outlawed by Law 40/2004, was made legal again by Constitutional Court sentence 162/2014.
This technique is recommended to male patients who, for physiological reasons, cannot produce spermatozoa or whose sperm are unable to fertilise the oocyte, or patients who have transmissible infectious or genetic diseases.
